The Wall

A tribute for all who have and continue to generously volunteer their time to support the work of The Cavan Centre for those most in need. The Cavan Centre was founded in 1977 and this tribute was opened on 20th May 2018 to mark our 40th anniversary.

volunteer celebration wall image In May 2018 ‘The Wall’ was officially unveiled in the presence of many of the Volunteers and Staff who have contributed to the development of the Cavan Centre over the decades.

Many tales and stories were regaled on the day and late into the night.

Volunteers are the cornerstone of the Cavan centre. In 1977 a group of volunteers opened the centre because they recognised that there was a great need for a safe place for children & adults from their community, the North Inner City to have a place to go on holidays.

The volunteers / families came on work camps to the centre to carry out maintenance, painting, cooking, cleaning and lots more while having a holiday.

The centre has evolved from the early days and we now receive funding from DCYA & DSP to employ staff. However, the centre cannot operate without our amazing volunteers from our management board to local artist, IT support, etc,.

We will always ensure that volunteering remains at the heart of the centre and it 2018 we dedicated the wall as a thank you to the thousands of volunteers that have contributed to the centre over the 40yrs.

So if you feel you have a skill and would like to volunteer at the centre please email
